Submission Guidelines
Brief guidelines for submissions to OS/2 e-Zine!:
All submissions should be original, unpublished material. If they are not you MUST make this clear!
- All submissions should be plain ASCII text with no hard returns except between paragraphs.
- Leave two spaces after periods when starting a new sentence.
- Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
- Do not indent paragraphs.
- SPELL CHECK ALL SUBMISSIONS
- Either attach the message as plain text, UUEncoded or MIME encoded text and mail to submissions@os2ezine.com
- Include a one or two line biography of yourself.
- Indicate if you would like to have a web page linked to your biography.
- ALL REVIEWS WILL HAVE A mailto: LINK TO THE AUTHOR UNLESS I AM TOLD NOT TO.
- Include a PHONE NUMBER where you can be reached in case of last minute emergencies.
Reviews:
- Include the specifications of the machine on which the product was reviewed.
- Be accurate and include some details.
- Discuss the installation procedure.
- Discuss the usefulness of the documentation and help files.
- Discuss ergonomics (user-friendliness, overall gee-whiz-ery).
- Discuss technical support if relevant.
- Make a value judgement in the final paragraph.
- Include screen shots if relevant:
- Avoid full screen shots if possible.
- If possible, capture only the relevant section of a 640x480 screen.
- Send a SEPARATE message stating you are sending screenshots.
- Send either bitmaps or gifs.
- Send either as UUEncoded or MIME attachments.
- Include any info you can on where to get the product.
Length:
Miscellaneous reviews and articles should be between 800 - 1500 words. Major reviews and articles should be between 1000 - 3000 words. These are guidelines only!
If possible, feel free to contact the author/developers for any questions, background, etc. If you are not comfortable with this or not able (in the case of large bureaucracies or whatever) and have questions you would like answered, let me know and I will do my best to assist.
