The screenshot at the beginning of the article does not work. It is not even viewable within the article itself. Get 404 error when click link. Please fix. I really want to see this. Tks. |

I have to fix that. There must be a way to default the icon to something else. ------------------ Christopher B. Wright (wrightc@dtcweb.com) Editor-in-Chief, OS/2 eZine (http://www.os2ezine.com) |

Wonderful article. I was not familiar with the VNC at all. Within one hour I updated to the latest emx and loaded the VNC server on my WIN95 laptop which sits behind me here at work and the PM Client (Viewer) from Hatakeyama-san on my OS/2 (main box). It's great I now have a window open to my WIN95 laptop and so far speed is great considering laptop is only a 133Mhz Pentium (80MB) and the OS/2 box is only a 200MHz Pentium w/128MB's. Now when someone sends me one of those WIN type email attachments I can still feel I'm running them on the OS/2 machine!!!! I like that. This gives me the insentive to network my home stuff now.Again, great article Mr. Basler! Regards, Don |

I assume the performance is much better than it was a year ago. There used to be about a two second delay when controlling my Win98 machine from OS/2. Now what I really need is an OS/2 server, because there is no decent host software for OS/2. HA pro is discontinued and slow even over 100Mbps, NetOP never worked and was reall Win 3.1, and PCDuo didn't work either. IBM Desktop on Call was drag-butt slow and used to lock up Communicator/2 as well. |

I don't see a two second delay, although the speed of the server will definitely affect response time if you have all the monitoring options turned on. In general, I get about 1/2 second. Not enough to be annoying. If you are so inclined, you could write a PM server, there is the source for the servers available. I thought about doing it, but I don't have any spare time for that since I don't really need that facility. |
