Links OS/2 Now Shipping!

World's most popular computer golf game now available on OS/2 Warp!

Canton MI. Stardock Systems, a leading OS/2 software vendor, began shipping Links for OS/2 today. Links for OS/2 is the result of a partnership between Access Software, Inc. and Stardock Systems, Inc.

"Stardock's great reputation in the OS/2 market made them an obvious choice to work with when we wanted to bring our award-winning golf game to OS/2," said Bill Biggs, Access Software.

Links for OS/2 has the same standards of excellence that PC gamers have come to expect from Access and Stardock. With state-of-the-art graphics and sound, Links for OS/2 also takes advantage of OS/2's strong graphics user interface features. Links promises to be a hit with OS/2 game enthusiasts. "The mixture of high quality graphics in a GUI environment such as OS/2's Presentation Manager makes it perfectly suited for OS/2 users," said Brad Wardell, Stardock Systems, Inc.

Because of its user interface, players can display the information they want to see any way they want. Multiple course views, score cards, wind conditions, and more can all be configured to display any or all components at the same time. Moreover, Links for OS/2 is also compatible with existing Links .CRH golf courses that are widely available.

Links for OS/2 will be generally available on Monday, June 9, 1997 from any reseller that carries OS/2 software. Links for OS/2 is also available directly from Stardock at 1-888-STARDOCK, 313-762-0687, or 313-762-0690(fax). Stardock Releases PlusPak: PMINews for OS/2.

Powerful OS/2 News Reader from the makers of PMMail now available! For Immediate Release

Stardock Systems, Inc., a leading OS/2 software vendor, released the second product in the PlusPak series - PlusPak: PMINews. PlusPak: PMINews is the result of several months of close collaboration between Stardock, OS/2's leading commercial software vendor, and SouthSoft, OS/2's leading shareware company.

PlusPak: PMINews was designed from scratch to be "the ultimate newsreader" and contains many features designed to appeal to both the casual Internet user as well as USENET news junkies. Some of the features include:

Multiple Server Support. Users with access to more than a single news server can now combine the power of those news servers for their own use. PlusPak: PMINews integrates multiple news servers into a single master list of all available newsgroups.

Multiple GroupLists. If you read a significant number of newsgroups, multiple GroupLists are likely to be one of the most useful and unique features of PlusPak: PMINews. Users can have different sets of newsgroups in each GroupList. Each GroupList can also contain its own settings, such as different email addresses, signatures, custom filters, etc.

Advanced Filtering and Searching. Users can filter out particular users or entire threads they do not wish to not see again with only a couple mouse clicks. PlusPak: PMINews' search features allow users to search any portion of a post or newsgroup filter the results based on a particular attribute. Boolean relationships can be used in searches and filtering. For example, a user could create a single filter that searches for posts that are cross-posted into ALT. newsgroups AND has the word "money" in the subject. For true newsgroup power users, PlusPak: PMINews also comes with its own filtering language. PlusPak:PMINews example filters, when activated, can help weed out SPAM and filter binary newsgroups to only display messages with actual attachments. Few newsreaders on any platform can even remotely compare to PlusPak: PMINews anti-SPAM features, all of which are user viewable and customizable to help make your newsgroup experience less of a hassle.

Offline support. Rather than forcing you to stay connected to the Internet while browsing messages of interest, PlusPak: PMINews includes extensive off-line support to minimize your time online and maximize your newsgroup viewing experience. After marking the messages or threads you wish to view, simply let PlusPak: PMINews download them to your machine to view at your leisure. You can even create filters to automatically download messages that are of interest to you!

Spell Checking. The spell checking features of PlusPak: PMINews help ensure that your posts do not go out with a bunch of unnecessary spelling mistakes. The spell checker's dictionary is dynamic and highly configurable. The more you use it, the better it will be at correcting your mistakes.

Integration with the world's most popular OS/2 mail program. Because PlusPak: PMINews has been developed by SouthSoft, it integrates seamlessly with PMMail. If PMMail and PlusPak: PMINews are both installed to the same directory, address books and drag-and-drop can be shared between the two products.

Excellent binary news group handling. Users who download images, shareware, sounds, and other binary files from Internet newsgroups will be pleased to find that binary posts are treated as actual files. These files can be dragged and dropped to the desktop or even manipulated right from the post itself. Moreover, PlusPak: PMINews also handles multiple-part binary postings.

A ton of usability feature. The number of convenient little features in PlusPak: PMINews are too numerous to articulate. Developers at both SouthSoft and Stardock have years of experience using Internet newsgroups and sought to bring to OS/2 a news reader that supplied the vast majority of feature requests from the various newsreader wishlists that have ever existed.

PlusPak:PMINews is currently available from Stardock's on-line commerce server. PlusPak: PMINews lists for $34.95, but it is only $29.95 off the commerce server. Users can also order by phone at1-888-STARDOCK or 313-762-0687. PlusPak: PMINews will soon be available via Stardock's reseller network, along with other PlusPak products. A special bundling of PMMail and PMINews will be available from Stardock later this week.

The POP3Spy V1.0 is available now!

What this software does

- Are you tired of checking your E-Mail every few minutes ?
- You do not want to have your E-Mail Client running all the time to keep you informed about incoming mail ?

POP3 Spy is a small program which checks your mail every few minutes and informs you in many different ways:

- The window interior displays the number of messages on your mail- server. The window is red if you don't have messages on your server and it turns to green as soon as there is at least one message on your server. It is not necessary to see the entire window; if you can see a small part of it, you see if there is some mail waiting.

- The icon changes. When running this program minimized, you can check the icon on your desktop.

- The window title also tells you how many messages are waiting. See if you have unread E-Mail using the task list!

- The software can inform you by playing a tune using the system speaker.

- It can even automatically launch your E-Mail client

What you need

You need Warp V3 Connect or Warp V4 with TCP/IP installed to run this software.

DH-Grep-PM v1.00 Available.

Grep stands for "Get Regular Expression and Print" and is a text searching tool that was first developed for UNIX systems and has been ported to most operating systems.

This PM version of grep is designed as a user friendly application. It is designed for a multitasking environment and the search takes place on a separate thread to minimize the time that the wait icon is displayed. It will also run in a low priority idle mode to reduce the impact the search has on the other active programs.

The often cryptic command line options have been replaced with easy to use menu selections. The output of the search is sent to a PM window and the user has easy access to all of the information that was found by the program. To reduce the overhead, the results are buffered until the search is completed and then displayed in the PM window.

Most of the usage information is available as online context sensitive help. Pressing the F1 key will bring up the help information about the current menu selection.

If the user places the cursor (not the mouse pointer) on a file name in the results window and then double clicks with the right mouse button, that file will be loaded into the editor specified in the edit_cmd.cmd file. The easiest way to move the cursor to the desired line or file name is to double click on the line or file name with the left mouse button.

The shareware version of DH-Grep-PM is fully functional, but a registration prompt will be displayed when the program is started and when it is closed. Registration is $10 (US) and the registered version includes two additional versions. One compiled for the 486 CPU and one compiled for the pentium/586 CPU.

Users may register or download the utility from BMT Micro.
