BETA: Enhanced E update.

The final (v.19) Beta of the Enhanced E's is online. This version is a cleanup in preparation for final release.

The shareware Enhanced E Editor is a 32 bit, multithreaded OS/2 PM text editor that builds on the functionality of the freeware editor included in the same package. Productivity is the #1 priority of the Enhanced E. Everything is at your fingertips with a few bonuses thrown in, for example;

Save or print 'selected' text, save or append 'selected' text to a temporary file, printer setups, time-date-name-signature file insert, spawn new session, extensive drag and drop (open files or rearrange text), popup menues, undo, toolbar, configurable autoSave, large (user limited) file history, find by keyword or line #, multiple language support, presentation mode, plug-in seamless html code stripping, line & character number, bubble help, built-in code template tool, import...

Naturally you get the functionality that OS/2 users expect and many others don't know exist.

Fiddler for Ceilidh (web conferencing software) available.

I've completed work on a new program, "Fiddler" which, through its Web-based interface, allows administrators to customize Ceilidh's message indices.

Ceilidh (pronounced "kay-lee") is the asynchronous group discussion (Web conferencing) program that defines a new genre in Web-based communication. Ceilidh provides dynamic Web-based discussion that is free of maintenance. Conferences are dynamic because the authors dictate when their messages should be deleted. The message indices grow and shrink in concert with the need to share information. Ceilidh's message indices are also extremely customizable, a feature that has been much appreciated by the digitally adept, but has proved intimidating to others.

Fiddler brings to the webmaster easy maintenance of Ceilidh's message index behavior through a Web interface. Webmasters can now benefit from the same ease-of-use that users have always enjoyed when reading and writing messages. Fiddler even clones the appearance of index pages so that webmasters can see at a glance which index they are working on. And on-line help is available 24 hours a day, over the Web, from Lilikoi's web site at http://www.lilikoi.com.

Over the course of this week, I'll be upgrading all the packages of Ceilidh to include Fiddler.

The number of organizations that are finding Ceilidh enhances the effectiveness of their Web sites is growing rapidly. One of the latest licensees is a project of the World Bank to support the economic development of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, http://www.palecon.org. Closer to home, the San Diego Supercomputer Center and UCSD Chemistry Department are also licensees.

OS/2 Essentials Version 2 Shipping.

Stardock has begun shipping OS/2 Essentials Version 2.

The utility suite includes:

DirMaster Pro, a powerful file manager. SSaver Pro, a screen saver with green monitor support that runs a wide variety of different screen saver modules and has sound support, an easy to use but complete system benchmark program, a utility that graphically displays where all your disk space is going, a true OS/2 trashcan.

Not only is it a full commercial utility suite that has no equal on the OS/2 platform but it also comes with a ton of demos, un-registered shareware, fixpacks, freeware, and other goodies.

Basically, OS/2 Essentials is meant be the CD that every OS/2 user keeps on them when they install a new system or want to know to keep from having to wade through the noise to get to the quality OS/2 software that is out there. Moreover, it also helps shareware authors by giving them a place to show their products in a retail setting.

OS/2 Essentials Version 2 is $49.95 and can be found at most places that carry OS/2 software.

Users of OS/2 Essentials Version 1 can upgrade for $19.95 by calling Stardock at 1-888-STARDOCK or (313)762-0687.
