Toyland 1.1 Now Available.

The first Warp 4 enhanced version of Toyland is now available!

Toyland 1.1 now supports voice control and the new notebook style. If you don't have Warp 4 yet you can still use this version - but will not have any improvement (yet).

Of course you can also use all the menu commands with your voice - that is a feature of voice control. Future versions will also give you the chance to limit those commands so you won't get somewhere just because voice control doesn't understand the right word.

The online help has all there is to know about voice controlled game play.

You can download the new version (Toyland110.zip) from:
ftp.teamos2.org/pub/shareware/toyland/

Fax Software Adds Internet Faxing and Voice.

Keller Group, developer of the OS/2 fax software sold as "FaxWorks for OS/2" and "PMfax", has added voice telephony, Internet faxing, Internet Relay Systems and many other features in a new version 3 release. IBM has shipped the updated "Lite" version of FaxWorks for OS/2 in OS/2 Warp 4 (Merlin), and the full-featured retail products are ready and available now for use on both OS/2 Warp 3 and Warp 4.

The new Internet support in the retail products integrates with OS/2 Internet e-mail products to provide "fax for free" delivery. Any of the fax, voice, text and data items in the new Universal Log can be "faxed" via e-mail. For recipients who are using the OS/2 products, the retrieved e-mail items are automatically decoded and appear in the Universal Log as received items.

Internet Relay Systems are also supported, such as faxing to your local office, routing the fax to your overseas office via Internet, then delivering the fax with a local call at the overseas location. Any site with an Internet connection and an inexpensive fax modem (or any of the many supported fax hardware types) can be a node in a public or private Internet Relay System.

Voice support for fax modems and Brooktrout cards is also provided in version 3, including use of OS/2 Multimedia audio and scripts for voice mail, fax-on-demand, remote retrieval of voice and fax items, forwarding and paging. You can forward your fax and voice messages to another telephone number, or forward them via e-mail for Internet retrieval anywhere in the world. Other features include new cover sheets, modem sharing, edit tools, archiving, priority sending and a REXX API.

The version 3 LAN product builds on the multiline, multiserver and hardware-independent features by adding more types of automatic fax routing (T.30, CSID, DTMF, DID, line and OCR), smart retransmission, improved routing and maintenance and Notes gateway, and other features.

Keller's new web page has complete details on the new features. The latest voice scripts, REXX documentation and utility programs are also available for viewing and downloading from the web page. The version 3 product is available from Keller's publishers, including Global Village Communication (FaxWorks Pro for OS/2 products, 1-800-329-9675, stand-alone $129, upgrade $69, LAN version $499) and NiteHawk / Open Port (Corporate PMfax products, 614/477-8801). Please contact Mark Ahlstrom at Keller Group with any questions.

TransWarp PlusPak Beta .40 Available.

NOW WITH 19 MINI-SCHEMES! And more enhancements to come!

TransWarp PlusPak is a desktop enhancer for OS/2 Warp 4.0. At the moment, it includes mini-schemes to enhance the desktop. Currently, the mini-schemes only set the desktop background and change the icons for the objects installed on the desktop after the Merlin installation has completed (except for the "Get Netscape Now" icon). Nineteen schemes are included in this beta, version .40. These schemes look best with 65,000 colors or more.

Future enhancements may include sets of pointers, random background graphics, etc. Changing the sound schemes are probably beyond my capabilities (and possibly beyond the capabilities of REXX?).

My plans are to keep TransWarp PlusPak simple. It is a fast and free way of changing desktop themes. I would appreciate any suggestions. Please send suggestions to Michael Neice of KrazyDog Software. TransWarp PlusPak can be found at Krazy Dog Software's Home Page.
