OS/2 Central Forum Opens on CompuServe.
Creative Systems Programming Corporation, in conjunction with Productivity Solutions, Inc., is proud to announce a new CompuServe forum to provide support for the OS/2 Community.
Today we are announcing the creation of OS/2 Central (GO OS2CENTRAL), the first of several new forums that we will launch over the next few months for the OS/2 Community on CompuServe.
The OS/2 Central Forum includes discussion areas for all aspects of the OS/2 Warp system. It covers topics ranging from tips and techniques for the new user just installing OS/2 Warp to advice for the small office/home office environment to latest advances for the corporate developers and users.
Special discussion areas have been established for Netscape Navigator and plug-ins, graphic tools, Internet/Intranet, Java/Javascript, Jobs/Contracts, mobile computing and Voicetype. OS/2 experts have been invited to help staff these discussion areas.
"The creation of OS/2 Central is a key part of our strategy to improve the on-line experience for the OS/2 community on CompuServe", said Larry B. Finkelstein, president of Creative Systems Programming Corporation. "With our recent acquisition of rights to continue development of CompuServe's OS/2-CIM product and our award winning Golden CommPass software, we're in a great position to provide a world-class experience on CompuServe and the Internet!"
In addition to the OS/2 Central Forum, we will also create a new forum to provide support for the OS/2 Developers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) on CompuServe. This will help to fill the void created by IBM's recent announcement that their OS/2 Developer Support Forum will be closed at the end of this year.

WebNavigator v1.11 Available.
Today, JMA Software Technologies started to ship updated WebNavigator 1.11. WebNavigator is a Internet web browser and HTML document viewer built to be compact and easy to use.
Features include online and offline browsing, news and mail support, internal/external downloads, select a new link while a document is loading, easy to use QuickList and others.
WebNavigator is also available in customized versions. If your company has need for a specialized and/or featured restricted web browser please contact us for more information.
WebNavigator is not built to be the all in one Internet application. WebExplorer and Navigator both tries to incorporate as much as possible but we found out - asking our users - that most users prefer separate mail and news clients. Therefore WebNavigator is built to be a quick an compact browser though it supports mail and news.
WebNavigator is quite similar to WebExplorer. They both use the same API and share many features. WebExplorer has not changed much the last year and IBM has publicly stated that WebExplorer will not be enhanced.
Netscape Navigator is a full featured browser and mail/news client. WebNavigator is not built to compete with that. On the other hand the current Netscape Navigator for OS/2 is a 2,8 MB file while WebNavigator is around 100 KB. Many of our users use both browsers.
But the most compelling reason for WebNavigator is that you can influence the features. Try calling IBM or Netscape and ask for a specific feature, our browser (WebNavigator) is built on what our users asks for.
WebNavigator 1.11 ships as Trial and Registered Editions. The Registered Edition lists for USD $25. The Trial Edition is a free trial version that might be evaluated in 30 days. The Trial Edition has a timeout and has limitations on its features. Any use after the trial period requires you to register. Unregistered use after the evaluation period is illegal.
The Trial Edition is available for download from our world wide web site and from several public ftp sites including BMT Micro.
This upgrade is free for registered users of HTMLview 1.0.
To obtain additional information or download a evaluation copy, visit Software Technologies world wide web site.

DeScribe Ideas Site Updated.
Thanks to Gerben Bergman & Scott Heath for alerting me to a problem viewing the page in Netscape. The page is now fixed and looks fine in WebExplorer, Netscape/2, AOL, even IE 3.0.
I've compiled the ideas I've gotten about DeScribe and put them up on the web.
This isn't a final edition (my feedback, mockups, etc. aren't there) but it's something to look at. For more information or feedback write to me (Ed) at eadeans@ibm.net.
