I thought we'd try something a little different this month. I doubt these are
particularly impressive, but I'm just using them to perhaps inspire some
of you users to submit something different as well.
All of these photos were taken using a Canon PowerShot A80 and transferred directly
to OS/2, where it was re-sized with PMView Pro 3.05,
fantastic utility which I can't live without now, and personally, well worth the price.
The original photos were even larger (yours for the asking, just e-mail me), and have
not been re-touched in any way. The EXIF information is included in the file for the
curious.
I have made albums for on-line use with JAlbum, a
great little utility that is free and makes it super-easy, sometimes literally
just 2 or 3 button clicks, to put professional looking albums on-line. Review in a future issue.
Notable because it has not rained one drop in the 3 months I've been here and even clouds
themselves are very fleeting. These stayed long enough for me to snap a shot off.
This was an old, abandoned hospital, now a historic park and empty Sun Microsystems complex
all in one. (Empty since the big tech meltdown, I suppose). And honestly, the
sky has not been re-touched nor have filters been used.
Want to be a show-off? Impress your friends? This is the place. Please note
that we can generally only accept original artwork from yourself or
something that you know the source to due to copyright issues. If we don't know where
it comes from, we can't publish it!
If you have an arty streak, maybe you'll see one of your creations in this spot next month - we're looking for your submissions.
Send your submissions to the Editor . We'll pick the best couple we get each month to appear on this page.
In any case, please feel free to download these and use them on your OS/2 system!
Isaac Leung (P.Eng.) got a degree in Engineering
Physics followed by a Master's in Electrical Engineering after which he promptly got a job as a product engineer at a company which makes high
speed datacom chips. He is old enough to have cut his computer teeth on Commodore 64's and first played with OS/2 1.3 EE while at a summer job with IBM. The
first PC he ever owned came with Windows 95, but he soon slapped on OS/2 Warp 3
and has been Warping ever since. He has agreed to work for Transmeta while he continues plotting to take over the world.
